We love to go out once in a while to rejuvenate ourselves and shake off all the stress from our work and busy schedules. However, when we actually find time to go hiking on a trail, the long process puts us off and we often end up dropping the idea. I have compiled here, some of the essential trips if you are packing your bags at the last minute and didn’t get to plan out your route beforehand.

Have a prepacked bag of the essentials

Keep a bag partially packed with basic things like a first aid kit, headlamp, sunscreen lotion, mosquito repellent, etc. and keep it handy so you don’t have to think twice before leaving. The more items you manage to pack beforehand, the easier it will be later. Also, things like tent, fuel, stove, disposable cups and plates, etc. can be pre-packed.

Make a List of what you will need before you start packing

Start making a list of things that you think you would need on your trail, keep that list handy and keep adding things you keep remembering afterwards. There are a number of lists available online, but I would suggest you make a personalised list of the 10 most important things you think would be important on your trip. Pack an extra quilt if you feel it’s going to be chilly at night, pack a fishing rod if there is a pond or river along the way, or anything that you might enjoy when outdoors.

Prepare your equipment

It is important that you air things out after you come back from your trip and clean your gear to avoid having to deal with dirty insects that start breeding on mud, poles, boots and other things, like that.

Know where you’re going

If you plan on travelling, the most important thing is to decide on a place. Find the place most convenient and exciting for you. You can take help from the help books or even search online for places to explore near you.

Keep these things in mind and follow them for an easy and faster solution for your next last-minute backpacking trip. Who knows, it might be within a week.
