Travelling is an exciting thing to undertake. Many of the travellers around the globe would agree that travelling too, just like anything and everything else, has a set of challenges. While travelling, hotel accommodations can be a bit expensive to say the least. There would be times when booking a hotel room would take away a large chunk of your travelling budget. So, have you ever wondered what can be done to avoid this situation?

If you look closely, your SUV can act as a home away from home. Many travellers convert vans, buses, and cars into makeshift accommodation. Converting the SUV into a camper is definitely an exciting idea.

How to Go about it?

Remove one of the back seats and make the larger seat to lay down flat. Couches and cushions wrapped in sheets would be your bed. Also, you can keep a sleeping bag on top. Now, this seat can be used as your bed. Furthermore, you would get ample space to keep the towels, clothes, and other essentials after you’ve removed the back seat. This space can also be used to keep a fan, some snacks, silverware, speakers, iPod, etc. You can also use a few string lights to make it cosy and warm. Also, you can keep the surfboard or the kayak on top of the vehicle. Try and make space for accommodating other essentials such as food (dehydrated), water, jugs, survival gear, and first aid.

The majority of the campsites are cheap, and would cost you somewhere around $20-$30 per night. An extension cord along with a power strip can help you light up your vehicle. Also, it can be used to charge your smartphone and iPad. The battery of your car gets disconnected once the car is parked. The open rear gate keeps the BCM running (it keeps on drawing power). But at times, campsites might not be as welcoming as they appear, and you might not get access to luxuries. Sometimes, adversity and challenges are exactly what makes the weekend that bit more exciting and breathtaking.

To top it all, you might experience a space crunch initially, but once you come to terms with it, it will be easier for you to adjust to your new little space.
