Located in the Park District National Park, Macclesfield forest is a lovely place where you witness picturesque sunset view, deep valleys and wildlife. There are many reasons why I love a road trip to Macclesfield forest. I have shared some of them below:

  1. Tree Views

You’ll find a variety of trees and amazing views of reservoirs and Tegg’s Nose. You might get an opportunity to enjoy the glorious sunset here too. I am sure that you’ll love Macclesfield’s greenery. Stretched from the Disley to river Dane, this forest has a lot to explore.

  1. Winding Trails

There are many trails to take you through the forest. Some will take you to the top and will guide you down. Down the forest towards the reservoir, there is a circular path which is stretched from Wildboarclough to Wincle.

  1. Felled Pine Trees

From a densely wooded region I reached to an open region which bothered me a bit. The area was looking deforested at first glance but when I enter into it, I came to know that it is a part of a re-plantation project. The pine trees of in this area have been felled to plant their native broad leaf trees like sycamore and chestnut, etc.

  1. Ridgegate Reservoir

This spot is one of my favourites. A bench in front of the reservoir makes a perfect spot to witness the views of Tegg’s Nose. Make sure you grab this early otherwise other visitors might reserve it. I really enjoyed the view, sound of birds chirping and tickling of waterfalls.

The reservoirs in Macclesfield Forest are a source of water for locals. I was impressed to see that confiners are planted around the reservoir to prevent water from contamination.

  1. Catching the Glorious Sunset

Let me tell you if you are taking everything easy you might lose a chance to witness the glorious sunset, but I don’t want that. So, I decided to walk up the hills and fortunately caught the sunset view. I captured the breathtaking view with my camera.
