Not brave enough to go wild camping alone, but still dream of sleeping under the stars? Here my copy will give you the confidence and motivate you to achieve your dream at least once in a lifetime.

Basics to Camping and What Makes It Great

Apart from romantically fantasizing about lying under the sky in the arms of the mountains in a small cosy canvas tent, wild camping has something more to it. It is described as an art - an art of setting up the tent that is away from public places and other camp sites but close to nature.

Places Where You Can Go Camping

There is not much scope of camping legally in England and Wales except in some areas of the Dartmoor National Park. According to the Land Reform (Scotland) Act 2003, you can camp anywhere rightfully in Scotland. However, East Loch Lomond which abides by its own laws is an exception. Dartmoor allows only for a night or two of wild camping provided you leave no clue behind and stay away from the cities and roads.

There are different laws for every country so it is always good to check online before you go wild camping solo in Europe and countries beyond.

Make sure you set your tent after sunset in the evening and dismantle it before sunrise in the early morning. Carry all the essentials including a small canvas tent, sleeping bag, eatables, and stove with fuel for cooking. Also inform someone behind about your visit and stay.

Confidence to Camp Wild Alone

Before you get up with your tent and walk into the woods or in between mountains alone, you need to be prepared. It can be scary if you are not used to it and are doing it for the first time. You need to gradually and slowly build your confidence. Before going on a week long wild camping trip, I would suggest you first go just for one night somewhere near your hometown.

Since it is advised to set up the tent late in the evening, you must first practice it on your own, so that when you go camping it can be quick and effortless. To feel like home away from your home, you must take some of your daily essentials with you, e.g. a pillow, a book that you love or an iPod to listen to music. That is what I usually love to do. You can also take a lantern or fairy lights if you are scared of the dark. You might get disturbed and freaked out by some noises from the nature around but it is always way less scarier than what you imagine it to be.

But all this is worth it as a beautiful fresh morning awaits you. You will be proud of yourself when you dismantle your tent, pack your bags and leave for home with a more confident and brave you.

Wild camping is something you must try at least once as it takes you into another world far from your busy city life full of stress and live your dream of lying under the sky in the heart of the mountains or in the middle of the woods.
