Why not take advantage of the gaps in the rain promised over the next few days and enjoy one or more of the thirty-one proposed walks in the schedule for the Bollington Walking Festival which runs from tomorrow, the 18th October until the 27th October. There is even a Bear Hunt planned as part of the half term activities aimed at children and the walks have been aimed at a wide range of abilities so you will find something to enjoy whether you are an early bird or whether you fancy some late night stargazing there is something to tempt you out of doors.

You will find out about the unique features scattered in and Bollington, including White Nancy, which was built as a summerhouse by the Gaskell family in 1815. You will see both hills and green spaces as well as industrial heritage with the magnificent mills that feature throughout the area as well as Macclesfield Canal and an abundance of local watering holes to rest your tired limbs – in fact one or two of the walks specifically feature these local hostelries, so get involved. You can even get practical assistance with an introduction to orienteering being offered, as well as a series of talks and evening events to enjoy.

And why not pay us a visit as part of your walking experience so you can have a look at the new shop and what we have on offer for the upcoming winter months. We have everything in stock so just in case you have forgotten anything for your walk or maybe just as a treat, go on you know you need another pair of boots or a new fleece.
