The weekend is here and there is still time to make the most of it, grab that fleece and get outside, and enjoy what the great outdoors has to offer. Before you know it it will be Monday and time to get back to work. So here are a couple of ideas to make the most of your Sunday.

Why not visit the new nature park in Poole harbour that has just opened. Holes Bay is an initiative to bring together landowners, local communities and local businesses. Being people together is important if the natural environment is to be protected for future generations according to the Harbour Commissioners. The park includes footpaths and cycle tracks as well as including marinas and boot moorings. The area attracts over-wintering birds such as avocets, black-tailed godwits, shelducks and wigeon. Dorset Wildlife Trust said the mud found at Holes Bay supports over 80 species, including fish and the king rag worm. Rare orchid species such as the marsh club rush and biting stonecrop also thrive there.

Alternatively why not raise some money for charity and get involved with the Llangolen Canal Walk in aid of Hope House to help shake off those winter blues. Enjoy the spectacular views of the Dee Valley as you cross the world famous Pontcysyllte Aqueduct rising 126 feet above the River Dee.

The walk is on Sunday 8th March 2015 and entry is FREE - we just ask that each participant raise as much sponsorship as possible. Children must be accompanied by a responsible adult and dogs are welcome but must be kept on a lead at all times

Or if you are based in London why not try the Metropolitan Walkers little jaunt around Henley. It’s a only a 17 mile walk through the scenic Chiltern Hill visiting  a series of picturesque villages including the location where the Vicar of Dibley was filmed and ending with a walk along the Thames

You can even walk down to the local Park but make sure you enjoy it, maybe finishinging with a pint or two, you know it makes sense.
