Thought it was time to pop onto Tom Brabham’s site and see how he is getting on. This 22 year old is walking the coastline of Britain to raise money for the Air Ambulance services in Kent, Surrey and Sussex. A little jaunt of around 7,000 miles, the equivalent of walking in a straight line would get to Beijing in China!

He set out from the Pier at Eastbourne on the 5th February and his latest blog entry shows that at the end of Day 27 he has reached South Sands, close to Slacombe in Devon. Unfortunately he is suffering from a hip injury which has slowed his progress. On average he needs to complete around twenty miles a day to complete the walk by Christmas. Things like a lack of sleep as he spent the night in a barn, sharing it with the cows who didn’t go  to sleep as the farmer left the light on and the cows thought it was daytime and simply carried on eating doesn’t help his stamina, but free cooked breakfasts are always a bonus, and I’m sure he will enjoy the sights of Britain’s coastline as Spring arrives, just wish it would get a move on.

Hitting that area of the country over the last few days I hop he has a nice warm and padded jacket to help keep the rain, wind and snow out.

Inspired by John Merrill’s book “Turn Right At Land’s End” he is exploring parts of Britain most of us will never see. Good on him I say. If you want to follow his exploits as he travels around Britain’s coast he has sent up a blog and facebook page. His kit seems to be lasting the rigours of his walk but maybe he should check out our website for the latest equipment to help make his walk that little bit more comfortable. We will keep you updated on his progress over the next few months.
