If you weren’t already aware we have the opportunity to watch a solar eclipse this coming Friday morning, and here at Outdoor Look we think you should be wrapping up warm with a Under Armour sweatshirt or a Fruit of the Loom hoodie as temperatures will drop surprisingly quickly once the eclipse begins.

But what should we expect? Well a solar eclipse occurs when the moon moves directly between the Sun and the Earth, and while it is still quite an unusual event to witness at least it isn’t an event which people used to think heralded the onset of the end of the world.

Back in 1999 we had a full solar eclipse in the UK and this will only be a partial one, but make the most of it as the next one isn’t until 2026. The next full eclipse to be visible in the UK won’t be until 2090 so set your diaries now.

Make sure you are wearing something warm such as a full zip hoodie, or a sweatshirt to keep warm as once the eclipse begins, at around 8.45am for the majority of the UK then temperatures will drop, birds will stop singing and an earie silence will fall, and will continue until around 10.40am when it will all be over.

The further North you are in the UK the better the eclipse will be so The Faroe Islands is the best place to be with hotels being booked out for months, but even in London they will experience around 85% coverage of the Sun by the Moon so it is something to be see.

So make sure you are kitted out properly, and remember NOT to look at it directly unless you are wearing appropriate eyewear. Here at Outdoor Look we can make sure you are warm and dry, so check out our full range of Regatta knits and Canterbury sweatshirts, both on the website and available at our Macclesfield outlet.
