A gap year is the personal time you take out of your school or college or workplace for exploring your inner self and getting clarity of your goals and interests in life. Gap years can be taken by anyone and at any stage in life. Students after completing their high school and before entering college take a Gap Year to find out what their interests are and what their aim is so that they can choose a path that will take them towards their life goal.

Not only students, but working adults also take a Gap Year to take a break from their monotonous work schedule to reset their goals and motivation and then go back more energised and revived. Exploring the world, learning new cultures and attaining experiences that will help you to live your life in a better way is the main purpose of taking the Gap Year.

Taking a gap year may involve a trip that lasts for a period of 60 to 90 days. It is an outdoor educational experience where you start from one location in the world and end at another location. It teaches you skills of living life and building stamina by facing difficulties and gaining clarity of your goals and how you can achieve them.

The benefits of going on such a trip are numerous. You will learn to volunteer in projects passionately and what impact your actions make on the world, explore the beauty of nature and mesmerising landscapes around the world, and set new goals and work towards them by keeping track of your success and failure. Also, you will be learning new skills of surviving with what you have in your backpack, learning to read a map and compass, developing communication skills and how to solve problems on group and individual level, and building confidence and leadership qualities by taking decisions for yourself and others

All the above mentioned benefits will make you realise what you were before the expedition and your transformation after it - a more confident, self-dependent and resilient person with new perspectives on life. So, as a concluding note, I will just say that a gap year is nothing bad, but it is the time and space you deserve out of your life to make it worth living. Go ahead and never look back!
