With the clocks now back an hour and darkness descending across Britain earlier each evening, now is the time to look out your high visibility running clothing. Being seen is your key to safer running this winter – and these days runners are spoilt for choice with a wide array of hi-viz sports clothing.

If you’ve ever seen a runner of cyclist out in the dark with only black or navy clothing, you’ll know exactly how much risk they are taking with their life. And there’s no excuse, really, given the array of hats, gloves, jackets and arm bands in bright pinks and yellows, and most with reflective detailing.

High visibility sports clothing also offers the same advantages of summer sports clothing, such as breathability, high wicking and water repellency. Added to this the running clothing is made to suit winter conditions, so you’ll find longer arms, full-length tights and layering systems, as well as hats, gloves and warmth.

Our current favourites in the hi-viz running department are:

  • Ron Hill Ladies Vizion Long-Sleeve t-shirt: This base layer is ideal for running when it's not so cold that you require a jacket but too chilly for just a t-shirt. It's designed with a fab female-fit and has 360-degrees reflectivity, plus excellent breathability qualities.
  • Ron Hill Vizion Beanie and Glove Set: Hats and gloves become vital for chilly mornings and evenings. And when it's dark you also need to be seen. This Ron Hill gloves and hat set does both in one go.
  • Ron Hill Vizion Contour Tights: Lots of different sizes to suit lots of different shapes, these tights also have reflective tape, a zipped security pocket, gripper hem and lock down ankle zips, as well as a drawstring to stop that annoying "falling down thing" that some running tights seem to do.

Be seen and be safe while running and cycling this winter.
