If you’re planning on a ski adventure over the next few months, you may need to update your kit. Here’s what to look out for when you’re looking for some new ski trousers!

Shield your legs

When you wear ski trousers, you expect that they will keep your legs protected from the snow. Ensuring that they are waterproof and windproof are two priorities – as is breathability – which will allow your legs to remain at a consistent temperature throughout, which will also help to keep you comfortable.

Keep warm

Just like everything you wear out on the slopes, you need them to keep you warm. An insulated pair of pants may be enough to keep the cold at bay, but you could always layer up with a warm pair of baselayers too.

Correct size

All the great work done by waterproof, breathable, windproof trousers could be undone if they are not as long as needed. Ensure that they at least cover the top part of your ski boots to ensure that no unwanted moisture can find its way in between.

As well as ensuring that the length is suitable, they need to be comfortable. If you feel restricted by them – they’re not the ones for you. Try bending your body or squatting, if they feel good and everything stays where it should, they should be good!

The bib debate

Depending on who you’re speaking to, a bib can either be helpful or irritating. Bibs can help to keep you warmer by shielding you from the snow, but they can also make it more difficult to use the restroom.
