Multi Olympic Gold medal winner Sir Chris Hoy has announced his retirement from competitive cycling. Hanging up his cycling jersey and cycling shorts for the last time he felt he might not be good enough to win in Glasgow next year at the Commonwealth Games and didn’t want to go to just make up the numbers.

Even though he wanted to race for Scotland and win a medal but in a sport where it comes down to fractions of a second, you know when you are no longer good enough, and he wanted the younger races to get the experience of racing in front t of a home crowd in a major competition.

After nineteen years in the sport he has seen massive changes in its popularity, becoming a major attraction on our screens, from its minority sport beginnings. So after 6 Olympic Gold medals, 2 Commonwealth Gold Medals and 11 World Titles, plus The BBC Sports Personality Of The Year in 2008 and the small matter of a knighthood, he is set to put his feet up and rest.

However, it doesn’t look like he will have much time for rest as he is an ambassador for the Glasgow Commonwealth Games and is currently part of the bid team trying to bring the 2018 Youth Olympics to the city. In addition he also hopes to launch his own brand of bikes.

I’m sure he, like many others, will find the time to continue cycling for fun and fitness and for that he will still require the right equipment and he couldn’t go wrong with what we have on offer on the website, not only could we offer cycling jerseys and cycling shorts we can kit him out from head to toe.
