Running is tough, especially if you don’t do it regularly. Here are three top tips to help get you to that next level!

Create a training program.

When you’re only just starting, you’re going to find it tough. Creating a training plan is a great start which will provide your body with the consistency it needs and the time to rest in between sessions. You can plan dates, times, distances and routes in advance, so that you know exactly what you’re doing. This way, you can begin to plan for further distances but also look back over your progress to see how much you’ve improved.

Don’t be put off when you struggle.

When you first start, you will struggle. It’s the same for everyone but it’s the same as everything else, the more you do it – the better you’ll become. There’ll be times when you can’t run for the entirety of your proposed distance, so you’ll stop or walk instead. There’s nothing wrong with that – eventually you’ll be able to run for the entire route.

Focus on yourself.

There can be a lot of reasons for why someone would start running. You might want to get fit, you might have been entered for a race, or maybe you just enjoy it. Whatever the reason, we all have our specific goals and need to find the best ways to improve ourselves. Focus on yourself and don’t compare yourself to others!
