Easter has been and April is set to bring spring to life. Skiing conditions are set to take their place in the cold conditions of the Alps. There were mild temperature conditions last week, but the snow is set to cover the mountains this coming week.

There is heavy snow set to elevate the Alps and Rockies area by a higher altitude. For the lower altitude area, it also means that the end of the season is here and the centres will be closing this weekend. With record-breaking snows this year, North America is set to keep their centres open for a longer period.

Here are some of the places that are still good to go for skiing:

 ·        Switzerland

Some of the bigger ski areas, in Switzerland have seen bigger snowfalls of at least 70 cm in 24 hours starting this weekend. The temperature is expected to remain low in the next week.

 ·        Scandinavia

One of the snowiest regions, Scandinavia has temperatures of up to +5 or so at various resorts. There are also higher slopes and resorts which are open till May. Ruka is one of the topmost places to visit in Scandinavia.

 ·         Eastern Europe

With a sunny week and a warm temperature rise, Eastern Europe is reported to close all of its ski centres. In the North, Slovakia seems to be covered with fresh snowfall. The forecast of Bulgaria is said to be promising with temperatures to drop back to plenty of snowfall during the next week.

 ·         Austria

The country is set to see cooler temperatures and snowfall over the next week. The snow is set to see cooler temperatures over the next few days and will have greater conditions in the highly snowy region that starts to open the ski resorts during the meantime. Resorts like Obertauern, Overgurgl, and St Anton are still set to be kept open during the week. There are higher chances of skiing stations being kept open in the region.

 ·         Scotland

Scottish Highlands are unable to keep up with the warm temperature rise. Although it is set to be kept open for the next few days, the warm weather has removed most of the ice. There are places with limited skiing times. Glencoe provides chairlift access to tourists and also provides touring lessons. There are newer bases which have opened up right on the front of the base. The Lecht is closed until the Easter holidays in the hopes of natural snow covering the whole area.

 ·        France

Given that there has been little ski snow, the first half of the week comes with the Europe’s deepest snowpack at the Tignes jumping more than least four feet. There is great news for spring skiing and people are hopeful there will be snow during the spring.

 ·        Italy

With a good snowy week, Italy is set to start with a warm temperature. Northern Italy is set to cover a wide area of fresh piste. Compared to the Alps, the whole region has seen a steep increase in temperatures and warm weather, especially in the lower Italian areas.

Where is it good to ski right now?

There are various places to ski right now. There is a gleaming danger of the avalanche danger levels creeping up along with the warm weather, there are more skiers near the resorts to be seen.

Ski areas like Paradiski above the La Pagne and Les Arcs, are set to be kept open due to being present in the higher altitude areas.

Although it is too soon to know whether there will be more snow, weather predictions keep it positive for the resorts and the snowy regions.

For the start of February, it is good news for the ski base and resorts that there are snows which look good almost everywhere.
