Let’s get everyone in the family active this year by getting involved with a local walking festival so not just mens outdoor clothing gets used, but everyone and all levels of ability can get involved. There are hundreds of festivals and events across the UK, but Lets see what the biggest one nearest to me can offer – The Peak District Walking Festival.

All the walks featured in the festival are graded to give you an idea of how fit you need to be to have a go, from ‘Easy Access’ which means you can bring everyone, including wheelchair and pushchairs having access to ‘Technical’ where you are probably going to be scrambling and using ropes. So, there is something for everyone.

Some of the walks are spread over a couple of days, so accommodation and meals are chargeable, so why not make this a mini break and enjoy what the countryside has to offer, and be ensured of an evening meal and full breakfast. Well we all deserve a treat and need the energy to complete these walks.

Some of the activities on offer include the opportunity to learn or improve your outdoor skills, such as map reading, always fun, or if you are feeling more active, they are also offering the chance to have a go at fell running. Think I’ll stick to the walking. A walk round Glossop, 5 miles over a couple of hours, taking in the beautiful hills that surround the village starting at the Railway Station, so you don’t even have to take the car. That’s more for me.

Or maybe the free Friday walks, suitable for all, taking place at Irlam Park for either an hour or two hour walk led by volunteer walk leaders who will help give you ideas for further exploration

So get yourself to the website and see why you can find, but remember to kit yourselves out properly, whether its mens outdoor clothing or kids boots, check out the website for our latest additions
