While looking for some kit, a rucksack and fleece to be exact, I stumbled across a couple of events that would stretch the capabilities of any outdoor gear UK or otherwise. Have a look and see what you think, although you won’t find me entering any of these.

The Scotland Coast to Coast: Using a combination of running, cycling and kayaking, this has three classes of race which takes you across some of the best know n areas of Scotland such as Loch Ness, Ben Nevis and Glen Coe.

Cycle across England: 13,000 people a year cycle coast to coast in England each year, from Whitehaven on the West Coast to Tynemouth or vice versa. Almost all of the route is quiet country roads, cycle paths and off road trails so the accepted challenge is to do the whole route in one weekend. More people do travel west to east as this takes advantage of prevailing winds and the fact that this direction makes shorter uphill and longer downhill’s.

ULTRArace100: This year’s event at the end of June will see competitors compete on a 100 mile route through the stunning Cotswolds taking in Morton-in-Marsh and Chipping Campden as well as the Slaughters.

ULTRArace Peaks: Alternatively run a marathon and a half through the Peak District taking in nine climbs and plenty of speedy downhill stretches, plus the unique experience of running 350m through a tunnel

The Snowdonia Marathon: How’s this for something different to a city marathon, the race itself loops around the peak, surprisingly making it a very demanding course. However, it has topped runners list of ‘best marathon’, strange breed these marathon runners, especially as it’s normally run in late October, lovely!!

So whatever outdoor gear UK or worldwide I think these events would stretch them to the edge of their capabilities, BUT I’m sure we could find you replacements here at Outdoor Look.
