There’s a whole festival of  Shakespeare going on, in fact generally this Summer there’s a whole lot of Shakespeare going on. I've got to admit I began to wonder what Shakespeare would have made of our website and more importantly whether it might be appropriate to take a look at the bard’s views on the whole business of outdoor clothing!

To be honest he’s not too hot on his brands and he certainly neglects to mention any of the many great brands that we stock.

He does, however,  have a view on the need to keep your attire up to date and to be well protected.

“Through tattered clothes great vices do appear; Robes and furred gowns hide all.”  King Lear

Unfortunately we don't currently stock much in the way of robes and furred gowns but I’m sure Shakespeare would have loved some of the new Regatta Jackets that we’ve started stocking. In fact it would have made for a completely different quotation if you could just find a way to use them in some of his plays. I won’t belabour the comparison but a modern interpretation of King Lear set on a windy moor but in contemporary outdoor clothing? If there are any directors out there looking for a contemporary setting can I just say, you read it here first.

Personally can I add

“The soul of this man is in his clothes.”  All’s well that ends well

This quote may even be where the inspiration for the famous “clothes maketh the man” line from Mark Twain comes from. We like to think that the “sole” of the man is in his Timberland boots especially at the amazing discounts we provide here at Outdoor Look. (Did you see what I did there!).

“Thou knowest that the fashion of a doublet, or a hat, or a cloak, is nothing to a man.”  Much ado about nothing

Well he has a point but I think that even Shakespeare’s head would have been turned by these our stunning selection of men's leather walking boots. In point of fact if he’d had a chance to look around our website I’m sure that many of Shakespeare’s plays would have been subtly different, certainly the setting and the clothing may have changed.
