Having found the race taking in the Lake District I wondered if there were other long distance events on offer to test your outdoor gear uk readers, and boy did I find some interesting events for you to either watch or if you feeling up to it even take part, check out these and see if any of them tickle your fancy.

Probably a bit late but this Saturday sees The Green Man Ultra take place. This consists of a 46 mile course following the Community Forest Path around the city of Bristol, and is for runners, walkers, teams of three or more, and relay teams of maximum five, with trophies for the winners and prizes for every person who finishes the course.

Fancy something even more challenging, then try this: utilising the longest riverside walk in Britain, the ‘Severn Challenge’ takes you along 210 miles of path, from the source of Afon Hafren (Welsh for River Severn) to the mouth of the River Severn. Added to this the four mile trek to reach the ‘source’, the ‘Severn Challenge’ commands an impressive distance of 214 miles. The ‘Severn Challenge’ is split into five stages, over a five day period. Within the five stages are three unique races in their own right, with each having bespoke winner’s medals and trophies and t-shirts. Complete all five stages and you get a finishers medal and t-shirt for each of the three unique races and also for the Severn Challenge. In addition any competitor completing the ‘Severn Challenge’ in less than thirty-six hours will receive the ‘soon to be coveted’ ‘Severn Challenge’ jacket. Not one for the fainthearted, but will be taking place between the 29th May and the 2nd June if you think you are hard enough.

Later in the year you might want to take on The Pennine Way Ultra, a one day event stretching over 53 miles from Grassholme. This particular event sees you take in a total of 2.142 metres of ascent and 2,274 metres so don’t think my knees wouldn’t let me near attempting this one.

Maybe The Wessex Ridgeway could be interesting covering only 52 miles in October, the 22nd to be exact, but think I’ll stick to what I know best, taking things at my pace, but to those of you undertaking these events good luck and if you need new outdoor gear uk or foreign, then some of the best bargains can be found here at Outdoor Look.
