Travelling is exciting, but a busy and exhaustive schedule of flights and bus journeys can make you feel unhealthy really fast. Even if you follow your workout regime religiously at home, it's not always easy and manageable to do so when you're travelling. But, there are many ways to work out when you're out and I love a series of yoga poses that can be easily practised anywhere, discovering new locations by running, and keeping myself fit by swimming.

  1. Swim Session

If you're travelling anywhere close to a water body such as an ocean or a pool, you're all set to start your fitness routine. I like swimming for the reason that it helps build up strength and support cardiovascular health without straining my muscles. For novice swimmers, I would suggest signing up for swim sessions well in advance and achieve a decent stamina level before diving into deep water.

A good initial step to getting into swimming outdoors for fitness is to look for a calm lake that you can swim the length of as you'll be trained to swim without painted path. In sea, I would recommend starting with shallow sea and swim in line to the beach. Unless you're swimming in tropical waters, put on a wetsuit, get a decent pair of goggles and make an effort to finish the maximum number of laps of the coast. It is highly important to stay aware of any rip tides before swimming.

  1. Practise Yoga Poses

Yoga will help you feel calm, focused, and healthy when you travel. This versatile physical activity will keep you active and flexible throughout your journey and it just needs a yoga mat and a flat surface. I've a yoga mat by Gaiam and it is easily foldable and fits in my backpack.

I love practising sun salutation- a yoga pose that involves 12 asanas, which efficiently stretches your whole body, relieving both mental and physical fatigue.

You can check out various tutorial videos online to learn the right manner of practising it. I really like watching videos on YouTube. You'll find yoga poses for all levels of expertise and travel plans.

  1. Run to Discover

Whenever I travel, I always carry my running shoes. One of the best ways to stay fit in a hectic routine is to incorporate a 5-10K run. What I love about running on my travel is an opportunity to explore more than I could do while walking. I often see a map of a new city and decide whether I can go running in a new location. Another way of covering up miles is running near to a beach. When you jog barefoot on sand, your muscles and balance are improved as there is less chances of getting shin splints.

Sports Edit Workout Kit

When you're packing your luggage for an adventure trip, you must make sure you've taken your sportswear. I would suggest checking out the Sports Edit as you may find some really cost-effective yet practical travel clothing for yourself. Whether you want sports shoes, yoga clothing, or simply a pair of comfortable leggings, you'll find all of them on one platform.

So, put on right, comfortable clothing and go swimming, running, or practise yoga on your next outdoor excursion and stay fit and healthy.
