Things to do

Edale is the initial starting point to start running that ends close to Hope Valley. It is a circular route offering you hill running of 33km with the 1,387m of total ascent.

During the snowfall, this place becomes even more beautiful. To get the most out of the two-day trip, you can plan to explore the southern part of the route. The route includes ridgeline of Lord’s Seat, Mam Tor, and Hollins Cross.

You need to go along the Chapel Gate track that will lead you to the National Trust signpost. Follow the new route on the left and enjoy the glorious views of Mam Tor that was constructed by the never-ending landslides over the last hundred of years.

The walking could be a challenging task if you are visiting the destination during snow-fall. You may get stuck in the valleys. So, to avoid this issue try to take your car with you.

The Stanage Edge is famous for climbers and hikers. It offers you the spectacular views of the Dark Peak moorlands and Hope Valley. This is a 4-mile gritstone edge that fulfills a hiker’s dream. While walking, on the Burbage Edge, there is a quarry perfect for camping at night as the dark slaps protect you against snowy conditions.

Once, you reach the quarry, the camping spot, you can relax there. Make sure to carry a camp tent and sleeping pads to spend the night comfortably. In the morning, you can have a look and admire the high black quarry walls.

You can now walk up to the hill to reach your vehicle and return home with memorable experiences.
