Winter is the time to step out of the house and embrace the thick white blankets and grey skies. It’s the time to go out there and hurl snowballs right into your partner’s face. It is also the time when you can set up a nice little outdoor barbecue and have a hearty snack. For those of us who like to camp, the season offers a lot of opportunities to get outside, get some fresh air and have a splendid time with friends and family.
Here’s a sneak-peak into all the things you can do this winter:
Camping
The season happens to be ideal for camping. For those who love snow, winter is the perfect time to explore the outdoors. Here is how you can pack your bags before going out and spending a day in the snowy woods.
Mixing ingredients together would help: You can reduce the weight of your meals by mixing things up before making your way out. Let us take an example of pancakes. You can mix up your flour, baking soda, salt, and sugar before you head out. Not only will it be easier, it will also be much lighter than carrying things separately.
Sleeping system needs to be tweaked a bit: This would certainly be the heaviest thing in the luggage. You can have an ultralight tarp instead of carrying a bulky tent. This isn’t ideal for every situation though.
Weather reports always come in handy: If it’s a warm day with clear, sunny skies, you can remove the base layer. Always plan your trips after listening to the latest weather reports.
Cooking
Nothing works like food, right? Like anything and everything else, winter too is incomplete without smoking hot food. You can grill a few sausages by pulling your old grill out of the garage and putting it to use. Grilling can take more time than usual if it is being undertaken out in the cold. Even in more temperate climates it will take a little longer to grill or smoke your food when the ambient temperature drops.
Set up a fire stove
Everybody I’ve met this winter loves a backyard fire pit. It’s an ideal way to enjoy the campsite experience at home. You can roast marshmallows, and it also creates a gathering place.
These things would help you enjoy winter like never before. Just keep these things in mind the next time you go out this winter.
Season’s Greetings!
