I took off a week from work in mid-May, hoping that it will give me abundant time to indulge in my favourite outdoor activities. But alas, it was a wet week with negligible sunshine. All my plans for hiking, swimming, motorbike riding, etc. went in vain because of the storm and rains.

But on the other hand, as my friend says, this weather was a blessing in disguise for me to catch up on some rest since I have been extremely exhausted for some time now. So in this weekly blog, you will read about me having a meal at a restaurant, staying in a hotel, going on a hike, wandering around the Stratford-Upon-Avon, and playing online games.

Staying in a Hotel

Last year, I entered a photography contest organized by Visit Cheltenham and was elated to hear that I was announced the winner of the contest. As a prize, I won a stay in the Queen’s Hotel, Cheltenham. They offered me the deluxe room on the third floor. The room had the biggest bed that I have slept in my entire life and the hotel served us a delicious breakfast. During my stay, I also visited a famous burger spot, where it felt normal to see so many people together since Covid.

Playing Games Online

Another perk of staying indoors during my vacation was I played a lot of online games. One of them that got me hooked was Google Feud. It is a browser-based trivia game that pulls out answers from Google. Each round starts with an internet search, and you have to fill in the end. In what manner, you are looking at the top ten most searched things on the web.

Running Away from the Rain or Chasing the Sun?

I did a hike on Monday in the Cotswolds, in relatively new terrain. I don’t know what would be appropriate to describe the hike- me running away from the rains or chasing the sunny sun, because both sound appropriate. The route was 10-miles long and is found on OS Maps. You get to see several manor houses and gardens during the walk, including the Bourton House Garden, Batsford Arboretum and Sezincote House. The terrain is gentle and surrounded by woodlands, farms, and some villages.

Wandering off Yet Again in Stratford-Upon-Avon

During my week off from work, the first National Camping Show was held near the road between Coventry and Warwick. I headed there on the first day to see the show. However, on my way back, there was an accident on the A46 road just outside Stratford-Upon-Avon, which led to the closing down of the road. Hence, rather than sitting out in the traffic, I made a spontaneous decision to wander into the town/city on foot. I parked my car on the outskirts and headed toward the River Avon and Stratford-upon-Avon Canal basin. I also visited the Holy Trinity Church during my exploration. The weather wasn’t favourable at all, but nevertheless, it did not stop me from having my share of fun in the Stratford-Upon-Avon.
