Some of you might be aware of the fact that people having spinal issues are not recommended to perform exhaustive exercise activity. Cycling is one such way through which the immense back pain can be maintained if not totally stopped. I am suffering from chronic disc disease which led me undergo two surgeries and spinal plates and rods insertion in my lumbar spine. I am here to elaborate that how yoga eased my back pain.

Getting Relief from the Back Pain

Two years back, when I had disc prolapse, my surgeon told me firmly that there was no chance that any surgery could be done. Instead he provided some alternative ideas of facet joint injection and spinal blocks. With that, he recommended me to do yoga on a daily basis in order to strengthen the muscles. At that point of my life, I was suffering from a lot of pain and I had two children to take care of. I couldn’t sleep properly, and the thought of the surgery was the last thing which came into my mind. I was only left with the option of injections to evade the surgery. I somehow got the idea of starting yoga regularly.

I had the injections and finally my nerves started to behave properly. It was then that I found a yoga class nearby. I met with the moderator and discussed all my problems with him. When I finally started doing yoga, my body felt stiff and my hips didn’t seem much happy about the new event. But I did not give up, I started slowly and then gradually raised my levels.

My first yoga class felt like I was walking on some mystical surface which healed all my problems. My spines felt tall, hips became more open and legs felt lengthened. The benefits of yoga were not just restricted to physical form but also expanded to emotional forms too. I started getting a glow which surfaced on my face. I used to feel fresh at most times. I fell in love with that feeling.

Started Doing Yoga Consistently

I started doing yoga religiously every week. If in any case, I could not attend the yoga classes, then I started to practice it at my home. Self-practice helped me a great deal. Within two months of practice, I learned different kinds of yoga postures. These helped me a great deal in easing my back pain and getting back on the track of my life.

The injections which I had taken were three months before I started my yoga classes. Slowly and steadily, my back pain subsided.

I got a scan of my spine after taking two months of yoga classes. When I took the report to the doctor, he couldn’t believe that I had improved to such an extent.

I was totally charged up after seeing such improvements. I decided to not only continue doing yoga but to also motivate other people by sharing my own life experience with them.
