My family and I had some of the great days in Yorkshire while we explored the outdoors. With a small family of my own, I tend to travel a lot and experience nature more with them. Although I have a lot of favourites, I have tried to write down a little post on the three places that were my favourite out of all.

Malham Cove walk with kids near Skipton, Yorkshire

Malham Cove is a beautiful route with greenery all around and an uphill walk that is very accessible. If you are travelling with your family, you can easily take the route from the base to the top. The base to the Cove is fairly flat and well managed. But it is recommended to travel till the top and get to see the Limestone pavement. It will take around ten minutes to walk through the steep steps but it is worth it.

  •         Walk time: 1.5 hours
  •         Walk difficulty: Moderate (Suitable for ages 4+)
  •         Walk distance: 2.4 miles

The walk starts from the Malham village and heads straight to the Malham Cove. There is a clearly defined path tracking the Malham Beck. You then go up straight up to the top of the Malham Cove till the pavement. Simply retrace your steps and go back to where you started and enjoy your view while going back.

Roseberry Topping till North Yorkshire’s Everest

If you live in or near North-East England, you would know about the North Yorkshire’s Roseberry topping. Some of you must also have visited the place. A popular destination for the tourists, this hill attracts a lot of walkers. I climbed this mountain when I was a kid. Now my little ones love climbing it too.

The kids feel like they have entered Everest whenever they climb this area. The quickest way to start with the journey is to start from the Roseberry Topping Public Car Park. From the car park the route is straight through the Roseberry lane. With plenty of stops and a couple of benches along the way, this place is a must visit.

It takes around 30 to 40 minutes to reach the top.

  •         Walk time: 1 hour
  •         Walk difficulty: Moderate to hard (suitable for ages 4+)
  •         Walk distance: 1.3 miles

Hardraw Force Waterfall

A short and quick route to the most beautiful view, the Hardraw Force waterfall is easier around the green dragon pub in Hardraw. We have done this walk with two kids and it is not that hard. There are two options to reach the waterfall – one is the low level walk with no uphill walking. The high level walk can be taken through the top of the waterfall.

You do have to pay £4 for adults and £2 for kids at the centre/café at the back of the Green DragonPub, but it is worth the walk and the destination to the waterfalls.

  •         Walk time: 30 minutes
  •         Walk difficulty: Easy (suitable for kids over two)
  •         Walk distance: 0.6 miles

There you go! These are my favourite walks in Yorkshire! You can travel to these places easily with your family.
