The weather outside has turned really nasty across the whole of the country, with rain, wind, snow, floods and everything else being thrown at us, so having the right clothing for outdoors has never been more important for all of us. One person though deserves special praise, one Davina McCall as she raises money for Sport Relief as she walks swims and cycles from Edinburgh to London.

The 500 mile endurance trek takes place over seven days, with day one being a nice 130 mile cycle ride, which is equivalent to some of the longest stages in the Tour de France, followed by a trek over Scarfell Pike and a swim across Windermere. This is followed by more cycling and a marathon from Windsor to London on the final day.

This ‘Beyond Breaking Point’ endurance test has already been pretty tough on the 46 year old mother, who had to carried out of the water at Windermere after her swim. But true to form she hasn’t given up and is continuing cycling down through Derbyshire today. Latest reports see her munching a plate of biscuits and drinking a pint of Coke as she bids to replace the calories used up during the day. She said in a recent interview that she felt like a goose being force fed as she needs to consume the best part of 8,000 calories a day.

She has taken part in several other Sport Relief Challenges including climbing Mount Kilimanjaro in 2009, but then at least she was joined by other celebrities including Gary Barlow, Cheryl Cole and Fearne Cotton. She was also one of the participants who rode from John O’Groats to Lands End.

She should arrive in London on February 14th and I suspect she will be met with more than a few flowers and hearts. At least with the proper backing and support she can be assured of having the right clothing for outdoors. Good Luck to her
