A backpacker is always on the lookout for cutting down on the weight in their bag without compromising on comfort. Even when a person is blessed with a cupboard full of footwear, making a selection is not always easy. It is always best to go for substance over style when it comes to making a choice between the two. Packing more than what is necessary is not a great idea as it adds extra weight to the bag.

When you're packing for a big hike, you should take no more than one spare pair of shoes in addition to those you're wearing. With only one shoe packed in my bag, I get extra room to store my gear. I have found that taking along versatile footwear is much better than going out with one-dimensional footwear on a long hike. Comfortable sneakers, casual or sport sandals are all superb choices for travel. Some of my preferred combinations are listed below:

In the City

Built-up areas are generally well-constructed and easier to walk on than rural areas, so you don't need big hiking boots for this landscape.

For Wearing: A casual pair of sneakers is a great way to look cool and feel comfy. These sneakers provide appropriate support and add new style to your look. The sneakers are available in many different designs, making the job of finding a pair that fit properly on your feet easy. Hitting the streets with comfortable sneakers is a great way to enjoy your walk.

For Packing: When you are not going for a casual walk, you would need something more formal than a pair of sneakers. Swap your sneakers with sandals and look elegant at any party or a fancy restaurant. The dressed up look with the added comfort of sandals will make for a fantastic experience.

Lakeside Outing

If you like spending time beside a lake or perhaps a large pond, you'll need footwear which is comfortable and comes with good traction.

For Wearing: Avoid wearing casual sandals and stick to sport sandals in order to provide protection to your feet. Sport sandals make the task of walking on rocky rivers comfortable.

For Packing: The exact second that you leave the beach, you should switch to a pair of casual sandals. If you like to head for rural lands, then a pair of hiking shoes will be a better idea. In case the weather is cold outside, you should wear footwear with more protection.

Camping Expedition

For people who like to camp and backpack it's paramount that you have the right footwear for the task.

For Wearing: Most camping or trekking adventures require hiking boots or other appropriate footwear, such as trail shoes. These shoes will not only provide you great comfort, they will also protect your feet from the cold weather when it changes. All adventurers who like outdoors more than indoors should stick to these types of travel shoes for their vacations.

For Packing: Packing a sport sandal is a great way to add convenience to your daily walk. A sport sandal can handle a bit of water and when you get tired after a long day, these sandals help your feet breath. The soothing effect provided by the sandals help a hiker recover fast from the fatigue. Sport sandals are worthy of the space in your bag, I have no doubt about that. These sandals are available in a variety of options and styles. You can pick up lightweight options for lightening the burden of weight on your shoulder.
