So you have your outdoor gear uk ready but where to go, what to do. Well if you in the Macclesfield area over the next few days why not take advantage of the great events on offer from the Ranger Service and Cheshire East Council. And if none of these take your fancy, then simple grab your OS map and plan a little walk of your own, as there is plenty to see and do on your own doorstep.

First up this Thursday is the ‘Dog Roadshow’ at Macclesfield Riverside Park. A joint event between The Dog’s trust and Cheshire East giving you the opportunity to get your pampered pooch microchipped and then given a basic health check too, and the cost – nothing. There is also the opportunity to meet up with your local Countryside Rangers and the Community Warden Team to discuss the Doggy Do and Don’t of exploring the countryside. The event runs from 10.00am to 3pm so don’t miss out.

On Monday 14th April there is an Easter Family Birdwatch at Tegg’s Nose Country Park, where you can take a morning walk in the woodland and scrub with both Rangers and RSPB experts to look for some of the many bird species that make the area their home, so remember your binoculars.

Wednesday 16th sees an ‘Xplorer’ event take place at TeggsNose. This is a fun family challenge aimed at primary and pre-school children and their parents, grandparents and guardians. It is an outdoor navigational challenge for the whole family and involves a great mix of physical activity and decision making. Using a simple map of the park the aim is to find the points marked on the map and write down the name of the secret animal or colour. So get involved as you do not need any experience of map reading.

Also on Wednesday one of the Conservation Volunteers is leading a walk around Haslington taking a look at the work being undertaken. This two mil stroll does not have any stiles to worry about and the pace is described as decidedly slow and easy.

If you want to book for any of these events or want to find out about any of the other upcoming events check out the Ranger page on the Cheshire East website. So get your outdoor gear uk on and get involved, and if you still need some kit then check out the latest bargains on this website.
