Get your notepads out and be prepared to have some fun with your family, now that the camping season is here. Get ready to make the camping checklist. We might not realise it sometimes but while travelling with family, not even too much stuff is enough. And so, it is highly likely for you to forget some thing or the other while doing the final packing. The checklist in itself might just be a formality but an important one. This trivial piece of paper is what will decide what you do or don’t on your trip.

As you would read on, you will find some pointers that might help you create the right checklist right from the basic tasks all the way to the most important ones.

  • Weigh Your Options

Before deciding on a place, it is okay to weigh all the options and get proper research done beforehand. Decide whether a rocky place will suit your family or someplace quiet with a stream or lake will be a more intimate option. Choose the place that you feel will keep your kids safe while not missing out on any fun.

  • Pick Some Place Convenient

Check in advance whether the place you are interested in needs to be booked prior to the camping day and make your bookings accordingly. Research beforehand if the campsite is going to be crowded and plan ahead accordingly. If your kids are very young and there is a slight chance you would have to pick a place that’s closer to home. If you want to stick to something easier, you can just rent a rustic cabin or a yurt in the woods, kids love them. Well, adults too.

  • Pack Your Gear Accordingly

Once you know what type of campsite is chosen, you get a basic idea about the gear you would be needing. If it’s an all furnished cabin, then the baggage is bound to be minimal. However, if you do go out in the woods, carrying things like glow-sticks, lanterns, extra flashlights, hammocks, camping chairs, portable picnic table and other such items will increase the comfort level while in the woods.

  • Dress Right

Dressing right is the key element while camping. Who knows what bugs or flies are lurking in the grass and bushes? So, it will be safe to pack proper clothing. It is best if you choose to dress in layers and don’t shy away from accessorising. Sunglasses, hats, hiking socks, rain gear, hiking or sturdy boots are some things that you can choose from and there’s always space to add more.

  • Pack Dry Food and Planned Meals

Plan your meals according to the number of days you are going to spend in the camp. Plan the meals beforehand and make sure you carry all the necessary kitchen tools with you. However, try carrying disposable utensils to carry a lightweight baggage back home. Decide whether you need a stove or cooking over the fire is more convenient, if so then you would need to plan and make arrangements for the firewood ahead of time.

The last thing I would like to suggest you campers is to let go of unnecessary items. We often tend to pack things we know we wouldn’t need but pack anyway. So, avoid that because in the end, you would have to be the one cleaning all the dirt off all the things you bring back from the campsite. On that note, I think my work here is done and you, my fellow campers are ready to go on a fun and magical camping experience.
