In our normal day-to-day lives, we have the luxury to clean our items or use something else – but when we’re out and about we often won’t have the option to.

The less things you use, the less likely you are to leave waste around. Disposable items are labelled as disposable for a reason – they’re only meant to be used once. Cutlery, plates, cups are all available as disposable options, but re-using non-disposable variants will certainly reduce the amount of rubbish.

Instead of assembling a meal on the go, pre-prepare some before you leave which you only have to warm up before eating. Preparing and eating can be messy, so limiting the amount of tools that you need to use can help a lot. Burgers, for example, are a food that do not need any plates, they can held and eaten at the same time – meaning there’s nothing to clean up, especially if it was already prepared!

If you do have items that need to be washed before they can be used again, it’s advisable that these are collected and left until you’re home. It’s highly unlikely that you’ll have access to a large amount of water whilst you’re out and about, so using it on washing up is an unnecessary waste. Make sure that these items are secured inside something and not left out in the open.

If it’s got to the stage where you need to use something, but you don’t have any clean versions available – you may have to clean some. You won’t have all of the tools that you would have usually, but using a container which can store water will help to limit the amount of water being wasted. Washing up liquid can be brought as well as biodegradable soap.
