How much good can walking really do you..? Well we have found a multitude of fun ways to walk that really do make a difference!

Perfect Posture

Nordic Walking has become one of the fastest growing exercise activities over the last 2 years and will do wonders for your posture! It’s a similar action to cross country skiing and you will need some walking poles to help you on your way, but once you’ve got the knack you’ll feeling proud and walking tall!

Get the Gear: Craghoppers do a great range of walking poles, try Craghoppers Super Lite Shock Absorber Walking Pole from Outdoor Look.

Toned Legs

Walking on an incline like during hill walking is the ultimate bum and calf workout as you naturally lean forwards and require more ‘push’ to propel you onwards.

Get the Gear: Hills often mean cool and windy conditions; make sure you protect yourself with a windproof jacket.

Burn Fat

Great for burning calories, power walking is done at speed (but not so fast that both feet are off the ground at the same time!)

Get the Gear: There are some brilliant Ladies Walking Shoes on the market at the minute… invest in a good pair for pounding the pavement!

Strengthen Joints

If you really want to protect your joints, barefoot walking is perfect (preferably on a nice soft surface like grass!) It also helps strengthen your foot arch for better posture.

Get the gear: If your stomping ground is more city slicker than sound of music, we’d recommend Merrell’s range of barefoot running shoes.
