Christmas is creeping up on us at a rate of knots… and you can already hear the faint jingle of Santa’s sleigh (you really can if you listen hard enough!). It certainly does seem like a lifetime ago we were congratulating ourselves on the benefits we cyclists had over those motorists visibly sweltering behind the wheel this summer. And as the autumn crept in, those euphoric feelings of freedom and fresh air, quickly gave way to temptation to reach for the car keys on the colder, darker mornings. Winter cycling does have its drawbacks in comparison to the joy it brings in the summer time, but we would like to present 5 great reasons to hop on your bike and keep cycling through Christmas and beyond!

  1. Christmas time means lots of present buying… More cycling = less fuel = more money for pressies!!
  2. There is no better temptation than a cosy pub on your cycle route. Call in, meet the locals and have a warming mulled wine!
  3. Winter cycling clothing is actually really flattering! Cycle to your friends for a coffee and show off the latest trends!
  4. A brisk cycle to work after the alcohol induced Christmas party is possibly THE best hangover cure
  5. Cycling is a great get out clause – use it as you like, to get out of Christmas lunch washing up, long chats with the in-laws… no one questions a cyclist ;-)
